The Cable Assembly for Dimensional Evaluation & iNspection (C.A.D.E.N) is a calibrated measuring device for the inspection of a 3rd party Collins Aerospace 75' H-F RF cable.
This assembly streamlines the inspection process for the specific product component by mitigating off-site inspection. Prior to C.A.D.E.N. implementation, the inspection process took an average of 1.5 hour/cable. The C.A.D.E.N. reduces this average to 10 minutes/cable, with an increase in efficiency of 84%. This, combined with an annual savings of nearly $1M, was a welcome addition to the tools on the manufacturing floor.
The tongue-in-cheek name of the project was devised by the team at Collins to remember my work, for which I am grateful and honored.

Proposed design/inspiration of cable management device
Simple design to mitigate operator injury by creating a snap-fit tape razor guard that can be flipped up when not in use and down when in use. Operators, and other staff, were reporting many minor injuries on the production floor when around these ULINE ESD tape dispensers used site-wide. The blade was always exposed, and would catch on personnel's arms, sleeves, or other equipment.
A safety guard for this specific model of tape dispenser was, at the time, not available on market, so 3D printing was a viable and cost-efficient solution, costing $0.11 each, and $0.23 for larger 3” version. This safety guard was later implemented throughout the site, and drastically reduced related injuries. Designing products and solutions that increase the quality of life for operators is a great pleasure.
